We have a limited amount of resources and our market research has shown that the motorsport of air racing has the largest potential. Whilst we progress the business opportunities we will also pursue and promote the private aviation and defence markets. Should these show favorable results, we can adjust as required.
The website does not contain detailed information about the UJ1672A and the venture, why is this?
We have purposely done this to protect the future strategic commercial direction of Terence Jets and the companies we work with. As we solidify our way forward, we will implement a marketing strategy that will serve our future commercial interests in the best light.

We are continuing our consultations with companies and high-profile individuals for the air racing market. Those that are shortlisted will be given a commercially sensitive presentation that shows the true potential of the UJ1672A and how we envisage its use in the pinnacle motorsport of air racing. It is anticipated that the outcome of these consultations and presentations will allow us to secure funding to complete the development of the UJ1672A and for the progression of the air racing business. During our consultations for the air racing market, we are also pursuing the private aviation and defence markets. Should these show favourable results then we will adjust our plan of attack as required.

Simple. We have the PRODUCT, the UJ1672A, and it’s time for it to be in existence in the 21st century. ARE YOU JUST DEVELOPING THE UJ1672A OR ARE YOU DEVELOPING THE AIR RACING SAFETY INFRASTRUCTURE AND AIR RACING FLYING SETUP AS WELL?
We are doing all of the above for the air racing market. In order for the motorsport of air racing to be taken to the pinnacle level in the 21st century, not only do you need the appropriate aircraft but you need to ensure the spectators are protected and close to the action and an Olympic top-level flying format is used.
Our design work on safety infrastructure has allowed us to form cost-effective and practical grandstand protection for the spectators. In other forms of motorsport such as car racing, the crowds are protected and this is feasible due to the 2-dimensional nature of the sport. With air racing and it's 3-dimensional nature, it is more difficult and impractical for current sized jet aircraft but with our very lightweight compact aircraft it now becomes entirely possible. In our opinion it should be unheard for a spectator at an air race or airshow to be unprotected.
As well as the aircraft and safety infrastructure, the flying setup needs to be at the Olympic sport level to capture that absolute top-level and we are doing this with a unique racing flying format that only a modern lightweight top-level jet can do, the UJ1672A. We are calling this unique racing flying format, UltraJet Air Racing (UJAR).
With Terence Jets being a very small company, we have had to be strategic in how we use our resources and most of our focus has been on the UJ1672A. HOW ARE AIRCRAFT DESIGNED?
There are 3 stages of aircraft design; conceptual, preliminary and detail. Before the design process is started an aircraft mission specification is required. This typically sets out the requirements the aircraft must meet such a range, endurance, engine type etc. In a simplified format the 3 design stages entail:
Conceptual : Generate a large quantity of possible configurations; shape, quantity/type of engines, wing type, fuel storage, retractable landing gear etc. that meet the mission requirements. Perform trade studies to help determine the best concept.
Preliminary : Perform aerodynamic sizing, generate the basic structural setup, determine major loads and select the materials to be used. Determine the weight, payload, range, stability and performance data.
Detail : Complete systems design and analyse all parts for structural integrity and manufacturability. A complete 3D digital computer model of the aircraft is produced.
The UJ1672A has undergone a substantial amount of work in all 3 design stages.

DEVELOPING AN AIRCRAFT IS A COMPLEX TASK. WHY ARE YOU CONFIDENT YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
The aircraft design uses conventional technology, is very compact enabling simpler airframe and flight control systems and just has a different forward fuselage shape/configuration. The state of the air certification regulations is conducive to our aircraft development. Over a decade of engineering work has been conducted confirming the aircraft design functions and is able to meet mission specifications. Had this engineering work shown otherwise then Terence Jets would not exist. We are not inventing new technologically or developing a rocket jet pack or a flying car which is still in the unproven stages of development.
Lastly, when Terry developed the World's Smallest Jet Engine in 1996 for his Aerospace Engineering Degree, he followed a very detailed plan that he generated with his deep knowledge of jet engine design. He was able to make this small jet engine within a 10 month time frame by using the universities resources. Terry is employing the same philosophy for the UJ1672A by utilizing his deep knowledge of aircraft and jet engine design. With over a decade of design work carried out, it is a matter of financial resources that is required for the UJ1672A to take flight. WHY HAS OVER A DECADE OF DESIGN WORK BEEN DONE ON THE UJ1672A AND IT HAS NOT BEEN EXPLORED IN THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESS WORLD?
Terry is an engineer and it has been his own personal style that has precluded him from taking the UJ1672A into the commercial world. He was initially designing the UJ1672A for his own personal use but during the design process it been came apparent that the UJ1672A could fulfil the market gaps for air racing, private aviation and defence. WHY ARE THE TOP AEROSPACE COMPANIES NOT PARTICIPATING IN AN AIR RACING SPORT SIMILAR TO THE TOP AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES IN FORMULA 1 CAR RACING?
Our market research has shown this is due to no high performance technologically advanced lightweight economical jet aircraft and a racing setup that is able to showcase the aircraft's true potential and thus the aerospace companies capabilities. Current air racing use piston powered propeller aerobatic aircraft and this limits the appeal, market potential and technological advancement. The top aerospace companies need to operate as teams in an Olympic style air racing sport and that can only be done with a modern jet aircraft, the UJ1672A.

WHY HAS THE UJ1672A NOT BEEN INVENTED BEFORE?
A certain moment in time is required when an individual has that breakthrough idea or concept. It may come about by a problem that is required to be solved or with us humans being inquisitive and creative, it may about by chance. The state of technology has to be suitable. Terry has had this aircraft concept since his childhood but not in the current form; it was only by solid long-term engineering work that the UJ1672A design has evolved into what it is today.

A NEW AIRCRAFT DESIGN NORMALLY USES AN EXISTING WELL-PROVEN POWERPLANT BUT THE UJ1672A IS HAVING THE POWERPLANT, THE TB300 TURBOJET, DESIGNED AS WELL. WHY HAS THIS BEEN DONE?
There is no suitable powerplant on the market that has the performance demanded for the UJ1672A. In order for the UJ1672A to have absolute top-end for performance with a thrust/weight ratio greater than 1 and operate at high sustained “g” loads while having satisfactory endurance and range then a low-complexity, low-cost and fuel efficient engine is required. The TB300 is able to achieve this by using conventional technologies and allows highly tailored airframe powerplant integration. There have been successful aircraft programs in the past that have used new engines.
THE TB300 POWERPLANT IS CUSTOM DESIGNED FOR THE UJ1672A, CAN IT BE USED IN OTHER AIRCRAFT OR MARKETS?
Yes. Terence Jets will explore the potential of the TB300 during its commercial exploration of the UJ1672A. WHY IS THE UJ1672A USING JET ENGINES INSTEAD OF ELECTRIC PROPULSION?
The current state of electric propulsion is unable to deliver the performance required for the UJ1672A and this is likely to remain unchanged for decades to come. By using jet engines in the UJ1672A, it will allow for a new angle of attack for advancing the proliferation of technologies in the gas turbine industry at a faster rate than currently exists. New aerodynamic design, materials and electric control systems will emerge and bio and synthetic fuels can be used.
HOW MUCH DEVELOPMENT TIME IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE UJ1672A TAKES ITS FIRST FLIGHT AND HOW LONG UNTIL IT CAN BE USED IN ITS FIRST AIR RACE?
With over a decade of design work completed and by utilizing conventional technologies, a quick-time-to-market is possible. We envisage a total of 4 years before the first air race and this includes 1.5 years to complete the design work, 1.5 years for testing and 1 year for pilot familiarization. First flight of a prototype aircraft would take place at the end of the design work. During this aircraft development time we envisage the air race airfield infrastructure to be developed at countries across the globe. During the decade of design work that has taken place so far, research on current and previous aerospace companies has been conducted. Successes and failures have been analysed and Terence Jets is determined to learn from the past and be the company that drives a smart success timely business.

This will depend on the type of market and the commercial market forces. It is mostly likely that the UJ1672A will be certified in the following categories:
Air Racing = Experimental Air Racing (EAR)
Private Aviation = Experimental Amateur Built (EAB) or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAR-23) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (CS-23)
Defence = Military Aviation (MIL-A-8860)
